Finishing second in the last stage Lorient Galway, the Frenchman Franck Cammas wins a historic victory in the most Anglo-Saxon ocean racing. The only French victory goes back to 1986 with Lionel Péan and Team Spirit. Eric Tabarly himself participated in 4 editions of the Volvo (ex Whitbread) without ever being able to win. It was October 29, 2011 in Alicante that the start was given for a race of 39 300 miles.
